Gardener's Delight

Last summer we grew tomatoes in grow bags on our studio roof. It’s a good spot to catch the sun, and we had many a studio lunch with tomatoes still warm from the vine.

We grew two varieties - the small sweet ‘Gardener’s Delight’ ; and the larger ‘Money Maker’ which live up to their reputation of plentiful abundance.

Over the last few weeks, Holly has been bottling up some of this summer sun with a series of beautiful tomato drawings. She has put a little pack of culinary cards together, with some of our favourite ways to use tomatoes.

The cards are riso-printed by our graphics wizz Elliott Denny in near-by Woolwich. It is a lovely printing technique in which colours are separated into simple ‘screens’ and then mixed by building up one layer of colour on top of another.

Here are the beautiful original ink drawings.

We hope they’ll bring a little bit of summer sun to this darkest and most wintery time of the year.

We have a few spare copies of our tomato cards, so do let us know if you would like one and we will pop one in the post.

Delight indeed!
